Oscar Bellfield scored a game-high 24 points to lead No. 23 UNLV to an 82-70 victory over host Nevada on Saturday night.
UNLV is 8-0 for the first time since the 1990-91 season, when the
Rebels eventually were 34-0 and lost to Duke in the NCAA final.
Bellfield was 5 for 6 from 3-point range, and 3 for 6 from the rest of the field.
Carlos Lopez had nine points and a team-high six rebounds off the bench
for the Rebels, who opened the game with a 22-2 run and led 46-25 at
halftime.
Nevada scored the first seven points of the second
half, and trimmed the lead to 61-49 on a Deonte Burton layup with 8:50
left, but UNLV pulled away as Bellfield's 3-pointer with 3:22 left put
the Rebels ahead 78-60.
Dario Hunt had 14 points and 13 rebounds, while Malik Story and Burton scored 15 apiece for Nevada (1-6).
UNLV leads the series 53-19.
