Thunder 118, Pacers 94: Kevin Durant collected 36 points and 10 rebounds and Russell Westbrook had a big game as Oklahoma City trounced visiting Indiana.
Westbrook recorded 26 points, 13 assists and seven rebounds for the Thunder, who improved to 10-0 at home. Reggie Jackson added 15 points off the bench and Serge Ibaka chipped in 13 as Oklahoma City shot 61 percent from the field against a Pacers team that came in leading the NBA in scoring defense.
Paul George scored 32 points for Indiana, which finished 3-2 on its five-game road trip. Roy Hibbert added 12 points and nine rebounds and David West scored 11 for the Pacers, who were enduring the second night of a back-to-back after winning in San Antonio on Saturday.
Indiana looked sluggish at the end of the long trip and fell behind early as Durant scored 10 points during a 14-2 burst midway through the first quarter that put the Thunder in control. The lead swelled to 43-24 on Jeremy Lamb’s 3-pointer with 7:22 left in the second and Oklahoma City went into the break with a 56-37 advantage.
Indiana started to get something going on offense in the third quarter but could not get any stops on the other end as Westbrook and Durant combined for 21 points in the period to combat George’s 18. George’s layup with 10:10 left cut it to 92-76 but Durant scored six points over the next two minutes and Oklahoma City was never seriously threatened.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Indiana had to face four of the top five teams in the Western Conference (Oklahoma City, San Antonio, Portland and the Los Angeles Clippers) on the five-game trip and returns home Tuesday to host the defending champion Miami Heat. … The 118 points were the most allowed this season by the Pacers, who allowed four of their last five opponents to hit the century mark after giving up 100 just once in the first 16 games. … The Thunder built up a 46-29 advantage on the glass.
