76ERS 109, PACERS 106: Lou Williams scored seven of his 19 points in overtime and Jrue Holiday netted the go-ahead basket as visiting Philadelphia edged closer to a playoff berth.
Elton Brand collected 20 points and nine rebounds and Thaddeus Young added 15 and eight for the 76ers, who would have clinched had Milwaukee lost to New Jersey later Saturday. The Bucks, however, posted a 106-95 victory.
Philadelphia scored first in overtime on Williams’ four-point play but failed to score on its next five possessions. Indiana took advantage, getting two straight baskets from David West and taking the lead on Roy Hibbert’s free throws.
Williams stopped the bleeding with another 3-pointer and Holiday responded to West’s jumper with two straight buckets to give the 76ers the win.
Philadelphia went on top with a 10-0 run in the third quarter but never managed to get more than 10 points ahead.
It was a six-point gap, 96-90, with 3:50 left when the Pacers began to make a move. George Hill drove for a layup and West stole a pass on the ensuing possession, getting it to Hill for another easy layup. West’s offensive rebound and put-back with 2:28 left knotted it at 96-96.
West tied it again at 98-98 with a jumper in the lane with 29.8 seconds remaining. Both teams had chances in the final seconds of regulation but could not get the shots to fall.
