Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit a go-ahead three-run home run in the eighth inning, Randal Grichuk hit two homers and the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the visiting New York Yankees 11-7 Wednesday night.
DJ LeMahieu had given the Yankees a 7-4 lead with a three-run homer in the sixth.
Toronto came back with two runs in the seventh and five in the eighth and the Blue Jays have won the first two games of the three-game series.
Gary Sanchez also homered for the Yankees.
Yankees reliever Zack Britton (2-1) allowed a one-out single to Danny Jansen in the eighth and walked Lourdes Gurriel Jr. to set up Guerrero's seventh homer this season. Grichuk and Brandon Drury added home runs against Luis Cessa in the eighth.
Sam Gaviglio (4-1) pitched around a walk and struck out three over two innings to get the win. Ken Giles pitched around a single in the ninth.
Yankees starter James Paxton allowed four runs (three earned), four hits and three walks while striking out four in 4 2/3 innings.
Blue Jays starter Trent Thornton allowed four runs, five hits and three walks and had four strikeouts in five innings.
Grichuk hit his 11th homer of the season in the first, scoring Guerrero, who had walked.
The Blue Jays led 3-0 lead in the second on Cavan Biggio's RBI single that scored Teoscar Hernandez, who doubled. Hernandez was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo Wednesday and Jonathan Davis was sent down.
Thornton retired his first 11 batters before Sanchez hit his 19th homer this season in the fourth.
The Yankees took a 4-3 lead with a three-run fifth. Clint Frazier walked and was forced at second on Brett Gardner's grounder. Gardner took second on Gio Urshela's single and scored on Cameron Maybin's single. Luke Voit walked and Sanchez hit an RBI single.
The Blue Jays tied it in the bottom of the fifth. Gurriel walked with one out and scored on Urshela's throwing error on Guerrero's infield single to third.
Derek Law replaced Thornton in the sixth. Frazier and Maybin singled and LeMahieu hit his seventh home run of the season to put the Yankees ahead 7-4.
The Blue Jays scored twice against Jonathan Holder in the seventh on a two-out double by Hernandez. It scored Guerrero, who reached second on a throwing error by shortstop Gleyber Torres, and Grichuk, who was hit by a pitch.
