Athletics 10, Royals 4: Josh Reddick homered and drove in four runs as visiting Oakland took the rubber match of the three-game series.

Eric Sogard also hit a two-run homer and had three RBIs and Jed Lowrie added a solo shot among his three hits as the Athletics won for the eighth time in 11 games to maintain their half-game lead over Texas in the American League West.

A.J. Griffin (7-6) was the beneficiary of the offensive eruption, giving up a pair of runs on five hits in five innings. He struck out four and threw 105 pitches - 69 for strikes. Jesse Chavez struck out four over four scoreless innings for his first career save.

Alex Gordon and George Kottaras each swatted solo homers for Kansas City, which fell to 1-5 against Oakland this season. Royals starter Luis Mendoza (2-5) was battered for five runs on five hits in 1 2/3 innings.

Reddick ignited a five-run second with a two-run double and scored on Sogard's double before Coco Crisp and Lowrie delivered back-to-back RBI singles to make it 5-0 and end Mendoza's day. Reddick added a two-run shot in the third for a 7-1 edge and Sogard put the game out of reach with his first homer since April 27, 2012, to make it 10-4 in the seventh.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Reddick went 5-for-12 with seven RBIs in the series and ran his streak of reaching base to a career-high 16 straight games. ... Mike Moustakas had an RBI double for the Royals, who have an AL-low 57 homers despite clubbing 14 over their last nine games. ... The Athletics will visit Pittsburgh for a three-game series beginning Monday while Kansas City will open a four-game set at Yankee Stadium.
