Angels 14, Tigers 8: J.B. Shuck had three hits and a career-high four RBIs as visiting Los Angeles snapped its three-game losing streak while scoring a season high in runs.
Mike Trout, Hank Conger and Erick Aybar added two RBIs apiece for the Angels, who took advantage of the Tigers’ season-high six errors. C.J. Wilson (7-5) recorded his third straight win despite allowing five runs over five innings for Los Angeles, which has outscored Detroit 48-17 while winning seven straight meetings.
Miguel Cabrera extended his hitting streak to 10 games with a two-run homer in the third inning before the Angels erupted with one run in the fourth and eight in the fifth. Los Angeles sent 12 batters to the plate in the fifth and took advantage of two costly errors.
Tigers starter Rick Porcello (4-5) allowed five of the first six batters to reach base in the fifth before being replaced by Darin Downs, who walked in a run and yielded three straight RBI singles. The Tigers turned to Evan Reed, whose throwing error allowed Trout to score the eighth run of the inning.
Torii Hunter had three hits for Detroit, which set a season high for runs allowed. Every Angels player in the starting lineup collected a hit and scored a run for the 15th time in franchise history.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Porcello has allowed 16 runs on 19 hits in five innings over two starts against the Angels this season while posting a 3.70 ERA in his other 14 games. … RF Josh Hamilton started for the first time since last Thursday while dealing with a wrist injury. He went 3-for-5 for the Angels, who had 14 singles among their 16 hits. … The Tigers trailed 14-5 before scoring three runs in the ninth against Los Angeles relievers Garrett Richards and Billy Buckner.
