Diamondbacks 6, Rockies 1: All-Star Patrick Corbin rebounded from his first loss of the season by matching a career high with 10 strikeouts in eight innings as host Arizona completed a sweep of Colorado.
Aaron Hill hit a two-run double and scored twice while Corbin added a run-scoring two-base hit for the Diamondbacks, who won their fifth straight game and outscored the Rockies 22-2 in the three-game series. All-Star Paul Goldschmidt and Eric Chavez also drove in runs.
Corbin (10-1) allowed one run and three hits while winning for the first time in seven outings as first-place Arizona improved to 16-2 this season in Corbin's starts. The 23-year-old left-hander threw his only career complete game in a 5-1 victory at Colorado on May 20 when he allowed three hits and struck out 10.
Rockies starter Roy Oswalt (0-4) left in the second inning with a left hamstring injury after running to cover the plate on a wild pitch. Jonathan Herrera hit his first home run of the season for Colorado, which lost its fifth straight on the road and fell 5 1/2 games behind Arizona in the National League West.
After Chavez scored on the ill-fated wild pitch in the second inning, Hill's double in the third was followed by an RBI two-base hit by Goldschmidt - his NL-leading 74th RBI. Chavez delivered an RBI single in the fifth and Corbin stroked his run-scoring hit into the right-center gap in the sixth to make it 6-0.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Oswalt, who said he heard his hamstring pop, allowed one run, two hits and struck out two in 1 2/3 innings before leaving as his comeback was derailed after four starts. ... Rockies All-Star OF Carlos Gonzalez left during his ninth-inning at-bat after suffering a sprained middle finger on his right hand while fouling off a pitch. ... The Diamondbacks recorded an extra-base hit for the major-league best 72nd straight game.
