Reds 7, Diamondbacks 6: Brandon Phillips ended a long homerless drought with a three-run blast and added a pivotal two-run double as Cincinnati rallied to beat visiting Arizona.

Phillips put the brakes on a month-long swoon, establishing a season high in RBIs to help the Reds earn a split of the four-game series. His one-out hit in the seventh highlighted a spirited comeback by Cincinnati, which didn't record its first hit until the fifth inning and trailed 6-0 at one point.

Alfredo Simon (2-1) earned the win with 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief while Aroldis Chapman, the Reds' fifth pitcher of the afternoon, struck out two in a perfect ninth inning to record his 15th save.

Bryan Shaw (1-4) absorbed the loss, charged with four runs - two earned - in just a third of an inning.

Down 6-3 entering the bottom of the seventh, the Reds trimmed the deficit after Paul Goldschmidt's fielding error at first base allowed Xavier Paul to score. Phillips tied things with a double to left-center field and scored the go-ahead run on Todd Frazier's single to nearly the exact same spot.

After the Diamondbacks broke out to an early 2-0 advantage, Aaron Hill added to the lead in the fifth inning with a two-out blast to left - his 13th of the season and fourth in 10 career games against the Reds.

Back-to-back doubles from Justin Upton and Chris Young made it a 4-0 game in the sixth, and Gregor Blanco followed with a two-run blast to left.

Phillips put Cincinnati on the board in the bottom half of the frame, launching a Saunders offering over the left-field wall to end a 20-game stretch without a home run.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The start of the game was delayed 46 minutes by rain. ... Phillips came into the game hitting .286 with only four RBIs in 16 July games. ...
