Red Sox 9, Yankees 5: Pedro Ciriaco had four hits and four RBIs in his second game of the season as host Boston salvaged a split of a doubleheader.
Mauro Gomez, another recent callup, and Adrian Gonzalez added three hits and two runs apiece to help the Red Sox erased an early three-run deficit and snap a five-game losing streak.
Red Sox left-hander Felix Doubront (9-4) overcame a shaky first inning and went 6 1/3 innings, allowing four runs on four hits and retiring 18 of 20 batters in one stretch.
Phil Hughes (9-7) was roughed up for five runs - three earned - on 10 hits in 5 1/3 innings as the Yankees saw their three-game winning streak come to an end.
Mark Teixeira hit a three-run homer in the first inning and Andruw Jones and Eric Chavez added solo blasts, giving the Yankees seven homers in the doubleheader - three by Jones.
The Red Sox clawed back with single runs in the third and fifth before Ciriaco put them ahead with his third hit, a three-run double in the sixth that made it 5-3 and ended Hughes' night.
