Redskins 24, Raiders 14: Robert Griffin III threw for 227 yards and the go-ahead touchdown pass as visiting Washington scored 24 unanswered points to earn its first win.

Pierre Garcon had six receptions for 59 yards, including a 5-yard scoring pass in the third quarter that put the Redskins ahead to stay, and David Amerson returned an interception 45 yards for a touchdown as Washington (1-3) erased an early 14-point deficit.

Griffin completed 18-of-31 passes, including a 28-yard pass that set up Roy Helu Jr.'s clinching 14-yard touchdown run with 6:59 to play. Amerson's interception ignited a big day by the Redskins' defense, which sacked Oakland quarterback Matt Flynn seven times and held the Raiders (1-3) off the scoreboard for the final three quarters.

Flynn, starting in place of Terrelle Pryor (concussion), finished 21-of-32 for 227 yards with one touchdown and one interception. His 18-yard scoring strike to Mychal Rivera gave the Raiders a 14-0 lead with 3:06 left in the first quarter, but Oakland's first six drives of the second half all lasted four plays or fewer.

Amerson turned the momentum with his pick to pull Washington within 14-10 at the half. After Sebastian Janikowski missed a 52-yard field goal in the third quarter, Griffin directed an eight-play, 58-yard drive that he capped with a 5-yard slant pass to Garcon to give the Redskins their first second-half lead of the season.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Flynn became the 16th quarterback to start for Oakland since the beginning of the 2003 season. ... RB Alfred Morris had 71 yards on 16 carries before leaving with a rib injury for Washington, which saw its offense fail to outscore its defense in the opening half for the fourth straight contest.... Raiders RB Darren McFadden suffered a hamstring injury in the first half and finished with 29 yards on five carries while FB Marcel Reese left with a knee injury.
