Isaac Bonton scored 25 points, 18 of which came in the second half, and Washington State used runs of 12-2 and 9-0 in the late first and early second halves to separate itself from Washington in a 77-62 win on Sunday at Alaska Airlines Arena in Seattle.
The Cougars (10-7, 3-7 Pac-12) overcame an 0-of-11 3-point shooting first half with effective interior scoring. Washington State shot 23-of-40 from inside the 3-point arc and dominated on the glass, outrebounding Washington 48-28.
Outplaying the host Huskies from within the 3-point line eventually opened up the long-range shot for the Cougars. Washington State shot 5-of-10 from outside in the second half, which helped it push its lead to as many as 22 points.
Bonton knocked down 2-of-5 from 3-point range, while Noah Williams made 2-of-7 -- 2-of-3 in the second half -- for part of his 21 points before being ejected for a late technical foul.
Dishon Jackson scored 11 points and was one of three Cougars with multiple steals. Jackson and Bonton each made two, and Williams made three.
Washington State got 13 points from Efe Abogidi, who also grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds en route to a game-high plus-minus rating of 26.
Washington State's strength on the boards complemented an outstanding defensive effort.
Washington (3-12, 2-8) shot just 38.2 percent from the floor and committed 19 turnovers. The Huskies' 62 points were the fewest Washington State allowed since 60 on Jan. 7, which also marked the last Cougars' win.
Quade Green knocked down 4-of-11 3-pointers and scored a team-high 20 points, but was the lone Husky to score in double-figures until Erik Stevenson reached 12 points after the outcome was no longer in doubt.
Washington's output was its lowest since scoring just 53 points in a blowout loss at Arizona on Dec. 31. The Huskies came in off their first consecutive wins of the season, but fell behind by 10 points before the first media timeout on Sunday.
They recovered to take a one-point lead midway through the half, but could not weather Washington State's 12-2 run before intermission.
