Davion Mitchell scored 14 points and Mark Vital pulled down 13 rebounds to lead a dominating performance on the boards and No. 4 Baylor to a 57-52 win over No. 22 Texas Tech on Tuesday night in Big 12 play at Lubbock, Texas.

The Bears (12-1, 2-0 in Big 12) took the lead seven minutes into the game, earned a three-point advantage at halftime and never allowed Texas Tech closer than three points until the final seconds.

Texas Tech got to within 52-50 on a three-point play by Chris Clarke with 29 seconds to play. But Baylor made its free throws down the stretch and snapped the Red Raiders' 15-game home win streak.

The win was the 11th in a row for Baylor and came despite 20 turnovers. The Bears outrebounded Texas Tech 43-25, had 16 offensive boards to 10 for the Red Raiders and outscored Tech 30-24 in the paint.

Jahmi'us Ramsey paced the Red Raiders (10-4, 1-1) with 20 points, 14 of which came in the second half. Kyler Edwards added 10 points for Texas Tech, which shot just 37 percent from the floor and missed seven of its 12 free throws.

As expected, the game featured gritty defense from both teams, with Baylor leading just 21-18 at halftime. The Bears outshot Texas Tech 36 percent to 28 percent in the half and outrebounded the Red Raiders 24-12, including 9-4 on the offensive glass that led to six second-chance points.

Edwards led all scorers at the half with 8 points. Mitchell paced the Bears with 7 points, with Vital taking 9 rebounds for the Bears by halftime.

Texas Tech cut the lead to 30-27 on a three-point play by T.J. Holyfield with 14:40 to play but the Bears responded by scoring seven of the ensuing nine points to move their advantage to 37-29.

Ramsey hit three big shots midway through the second half, including a 3-pointer with 7 minutes to play, to help the Red Raiders pull to within 44-40. But Devonte Bandoo answered with a 3-pointer of his own to short-circuit Texas Tech's run.
