Seton Hall got 19 points and 16 rebounds from Angel Delgado, and the team had a huge second half to comeback and beat in-state rival Rutgers 72-61 on Friday night at a sold-out Prudential Center.

The Pirates closed out their non-conference slate with their fourth consecutive win against the Garden State foe, and it was the sixth win in a row overall for Seton Hall (10-2). The Pirates outscored the Scarlet Knights (11-2) 49-29 in the second half and went on a late 13-2 run which sealed the victory.

Delgado, a junior forward, came in averaging a double-double and made his presence felt. He went 7-for-19 from the floor, and his 16 boards helped Seton Hall hold a 48-36 advantage on the glass.

Junior guard Khadeen Carrington had a team-best 20 points for Seton Hall and hit half of his six 3-point attempts. Junior forward Desi Rodriguez added 13 points, and his dunk with two minutes left was the exclamation point on the Pirates' game-changing 13-2 spurt.

Sophomore guard Corey Sanders had a team-high 17 points for Rutgers, and teammate Nigel Johnson added 16. The Scarlet Knights shot 36 percent from the floor and had seven assists to 19 turnovers.

Rutgers' last win in the series came on March 8, 2013, when both teams were members of the Big East.

Seton Hall trailed by nine points at halftime after shooting just 8-for-28 (28.6 percent) from the floor in the second half. In the final 20 minutes, the Pirates hit 16 of their 35 shots -- a 45.7 shooting percentage.

Both teams will open conference play against top-15 opponents next week. Seton Hall will get Big East play started Wednesday at No. 9 Creighton, while Rutgers will begin its third Big Ten season on the road at No. 14 Wisconsin on Tuesday.
