Forward Devin Thomas scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as Wake Forest responded with a second-half spurt in a 77-74 victory against North Carolina State in an Atlantic Coast Conference game Sunday night at Lawrence Joel Coliseum in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Wake Forest (10-5, 1-2 ACC) enjoyed a 12-3 surge after both teams had big runs in a wild second half.

The Demon Deacons scored the first 13 points of the second half for a 40-25 lead, but N.C. State bounced back with an 18-2 run to go ahead.

Wake Forest forward Dinos Mitoglou hit two 3-point shots during the burst early in the second half and added another long-range basket in the decisive surge. He finished with 15 points.

Guard Bryant Crawford finished with 17 points for the Demon Deacons, and guard Codi Miller-McIntyre chipped in with 11 points.

Wake Forest made one 3-point basket in the first half, then had three in the opening three minutes of the second half.

N.C. State's 10-4 advantage in the last 30 seconds accounted for the final score.

Guard Anthony Barber led the Wolfpack (10-6, 0-3) with 26 points. Guard Maverick Rowan had 13 points, while forward Abdul-Malik Abu scored all 11 of his points in the second half after he was strapped with first-half foul trouble.

Wake Forest led 27-25 at halftime despite going more than five minutes without a field goal to end the half.

The teams combined to shoot 19-for-63 (30.2 percent) from the field in the opening 20 minutes. Overall, Wake Forest shot 43.1 percent and N.C. State shot 42.3 percent.

The home team won for the eighth consecutive meeting in the series.
