Miami (Fla.) 82, Virginia Tech 61: Ivan Cruz Uceda scored a career-high 18 points and the visiting Hurricanes used a 3-point barrage to cruise in their regular-season finale.

Miami (20-11, 10-8 ACC) shot 10-of-16 from 3-point range in the first half, racing to a 46-18 lead at intermission on their way to clinching the sixth seed for next week’s ACC tournament. Manu Lecomte finished 5-of-6 from 3-point range en route to 20 points, James Palmer hit all five of his 3-point attempts in scoring 17 points and Uceda went 3-of-4 from 3-point range.

Ahmed Hill had 17 points to lead the Hokies (10-21, 2-16), who lost their seventh in a row and will be the 14th and final seed in next week’s conference tournament. Freshman Satchel Pierce added a career-high 13 points for Virginia Tech, which shot 35 percent from the field in the first half.

The Hurricanes took control with two large runs in the first half, scoring 10 consecutive points to build a 13-point advantage before pulling away with a 20-2 spurt late in the half. Uceda scored five points during the first run, his 3-pointer with under 12 ½ minutes remaining giving Miami a 19-6 advantage.

Jalen Hudson’s 3-pointer brought Virginia Tech within 24-14 with 9 ½ minutes to go in the half, but Lecomte scored 11 points during the decisive run, hitting three 3-pointers and capping the run with a layup to make it 44-16 with just under two minutes left before intermission. The Hokies opened the second half with a 10-2 burst to draw within 48-28, but Uceda’s three-point play capped 10 consecutive Miami points to push the lead to 30.
