North Carolina State 71, Syracuse 57: Ralston Turner and Trevor Lacey each contributed 19 points as the host Wolfpack wrapped up the regular season by smashing the Orange.
Turner and Lacey combined for eight 3-pointers as North Carolina State (19-12, 10-8 ACC) won for the fifth time in its last six games. Anthony Barber pitched in 10 points, seven rebounds and six assists for the Wolfpack.
Tyler Roberson had 16 points and 12 rebounds as Syracuse (18-13, 9-9) wrapped up its season one day after the team was given a harsh punishment by the NCAA that included 12 lost scholarships over the next four years and a nine-game suspension for coach Jim Boeheim next season. The Orange, who already had self-imposed a postseason ban for this season as a penalty for sanctions from previous years, also received 15 points, 12 boards and five blocks from senior center Rakeem Christmas.
The Orange led 25-17 on Roberson's bucket with 3:24 left in the first half, but did not score thereafter in the period as the Wolfpack used a 9-0 run to surge ahead at the break. N.C. State held Syracuse to two points in the first six minutes of the second half as the margin swelled to 44-27.
Turner knocked down two 3-pointers and a layup during the strong start to the second half for the Wolfpack, whose lead was as large as 55-36 before Syracuse rallied within nine with 4:15 to play. However, Turner drained back-to-back 3-pointers shortly thereafter as the hosts put up 45 second-half points and coasted to the victory.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Christmas finished with 12 double-doubles this season. .. Orange PG Kaleb Joseph was back in the starting lineup following a one-game stint as a reserve. He finished with three points on 1-of-6 shooting and went 1-of-17 over his last five games. ... F Abdul-Malik Abu grabbed a team-high eight rebounds for the Wolfpack.
