No. 3 Virginia 89, Miami (Fla.) 80 (2OT): London Perrantes scored 26 points, including nine after regulation, and the visiting Cavaliers needed two overtimes to get past the Hurricanes in the ACC opener for both teams.

Mike Tobey contributed 14 points and six rebounds, Marial Shayok had nine points off the bench and Darion Atkins notched eight points and a team-high 12 rebounds for the Cavaliers, who drained 10-of-21 from 3-point range.

Sheldon McClellan had 16 points and eight rebounds, Omar Sherman added 13 points and six boards and Deandre Burnett chipped in with 12 points for the Hurricanes.

Virginia held a 38-20 advantage coming out of halftime before the Hurricanes fought back, using a 17-4 run to start the second half that featured a pair of 3-pointers from Burnett to draw within 42-37 with 15 minutes remaining. Virginia appeared to ice the game with free throws from Anderson and Perrantes in the waning minutes but Rodriguez was fouled on a 3-point attempt as time expired and sank all three attempts from the line to send the game to overtime.

Virginia missed its first five attempts from the field in the first overtime as Miami pulled ahead 71-68 with 20 seconds to go, Anderson's 3-pointer knotted the game at 71-71 and forced a second extra frame. McClellan opened the second overtime with a 3-pointer but the Cavaliers took control from that point on, outscoring the Hurricanes 18-6 the rest of the way for the hard-fought win.
