No. 4 Louisville 80, CSUN 55: Wayne Blackshear scored 23 of his career-high 31 points in the first half as the host Cardinals cruised past the Matadors without suspended All-American candidate Montrezl Harrell.

Blackshear went 11-of-17 from the field – including 6-of-11 from the 3-point line – and added six rebounds and four steals for Louisville (11-0), which will host top-ranked Kentucky on Saturday. Terry Rozier contributed 16 points, six rebounds and five assists as the Cardinals pulled away late minus Harrell, who sat out Tuesday’s game after he was ejected for throwing an elbow following a shoving match in the first half of Saturday’s 76-67 win at Western Kentucky.

Stephen Maxwell posted his fifth double-double of the season with 20 points and 10 rebounds for CSUN (3-10), which finished 0-for-3 beyond the arc and has failed to hit a 3-pointer in two of its last five contests. Stephan Hicks poured in 19 points and was the only other Matador to finish in double figures.

Blackshear connected on his first five shots – including three 3-pointers – and scored his team’s first 13 points as Louisville raced out to a 14-point lead less than nine minutes into the contest. Although CSUN committed 13 first-half turnovers, the Cardinals could not stretch their advantage any further before the break despite the fact that Blackshear nearly outscored the Matadors by himself in the opening 20 minutes.

Devonte Elliott’s three-point play with 10 ½ minutes to go left CSUN trailing by nine before Louisville got six straight points from Blackshear near the end of 16-1 surge, capped by a 3-pointer from David Levitch with 6:47 left. The Matadors ended a 6 1/2-minute field-goal drought moments later on a tip-in from Maxwell, but that proved to be their only basket over the final 10 ½ minutes.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Louisville has won 35 straight home games against nonconference opponents – the fifth-longest current streak in the nation. … Maxwell, who needed only four boards to set the Matadors’ all-time rebounding record entering Tuesday, has 814 for his career. … Blackshear’s 23 first-half points matched his previous career high for a game.
