No. 1 Kentucky 89, Boston University 65: Aaron Harrison scored 19 points as the host Wildcats prevailed after outscoring the pesky Terriers 49-30 in the second half.
Devin Booker had 15 points and seven assists as the Wildcats (4-0) recorded 24 assists on 34 baskets and shot 57.6 percent from the field. Dakari Johnson added 11 points and six rebounds, Willie Cauley-Stein scored 12 and Karl-Anthony Towns contributed five blocks.
Cedric Hankerson scored 24 points and was 5-of-9 from 3-point range for Boston (1-2), which trailed by two with 16:19 left before matching technical fouls on Hankerson and Harrison seemed to spark Kentucky. Cheddi Mosely added 13 points and Eric Fanning scored 12 for the Terriers, who committed 22 turnovers.
After five straight points by Hankerson trimmed the deficit to 46-44, the Wildcats went on an 8-0 after the technicals - capped by Cauley-Stein's dunk. Hankerson's 3-pointer trimmed the deficit to 66-57 with 8:29 left before Harrison finished a 9-0 spurt with a dunk, and Kentucky was on its way.
The Wildcats led by as many as 10 in the first half, but Fanning's long 3-pointer six seconds before the break cut the deficit in half 40-35. Kentucky hurt itself by going 13-of-23 from the free-throw line - 11-of-18 in the second half - while Boston was 16-of-18.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Kentucky coach John Calipari continued to use a platoon system with starters Aaron Harrison, Andrew Harrison, Stein, Towns and Dominique Hawkins combined for 50 points while the second unit consisting of Johnson, Booker, Trey Lyles, Marcus Lee and Tyler Ulis scored 39. ... Boston scored 30 points in the second half after Kentucky combined to allow 26 in its last two games against Kansas and Buffalo. ... Boston's Nathan Dieudonne was also whistled for a technical in the chippy contest and recorded 10 points, five rebounds and four assists before fouling out with 4:56 left.
