Travis McKie scored 13 of his 15 points in the second half for Wake Forest (3-2), which made 20 free throws to overcome a woeful 3-for-19 effort from 3-point range.
Marcus Thornton had a team-high 17 points for William & Mary (3-2), which suffered from erratic shooting to drop its second straight. The Tribe connected on just 4 of 18 shots from 3-point range and 11 of 19 free throws.
After Tyler Cavanaugh's 3-pointer gave the Demon Deacons a 52-47 lead, Harris and McKie made the difference from the foul line to keep the Tribe at bay.
Wake Forest's Aaron Rountree made his presence felt on the defensive end, recording seven rebounds, five blocks and two steals in 23 minutes of action.
