Vincent Council collected 17 points, 12 assists and seven rebounds as Providence broke out in the second half en route to a 67-52 victory over visiting New Hampshire on Tuesday.
Gerard Coleman added 20 points and freshman LaDontae Henton chipped in 11 points and 12 rebounds for the Friars (10-2), who have won six straight and improved to 8-0 at home.
Providence has won 19 consecutive non-conference games at home. The Friars will face rival Rhode Island on Friday before beginning Big East play next week.
New Hampshire hung around throughout the first half and took the lead 34-32 when Patrick Konan buried a deep 3-pointer from the right wing with 15:34 remaining. That seemed to wake up Providence, which got eight straight points from Council to spark a 16-4 run over the next four minutes.
The Friars would start a 15-2 run on Coleman’s three-point play with 9:33 left and coasted to the finish.
Konan finished with 17 points and nine rebounds to lead the Wildcats (4-5), who shot 7-of-29 from 3-point range.
