Malcolm Lee scored 18 points, Reeves Nelson added 15 and UCLA won its fourth straight game Tuesday with a 75-59 victory over visiting Montana State.
UCLA led 36-29 at halftime, but Montana State’s Danny Piepoli started the second half with two 3-pointers as the Bobcats went on a 17-7 run. Montana State then went cold, and went nearly eight minutes before their next field goal.
UCLA (7-4) led by 15 after Tyler Lamb’s dunk with 6:01 remaining. Tyler Honeycutt scored nine points and Lamb added eight for the Bruins, who made 2 of 13 of their 3-pointers.
Freshman center Joshua Smith, who averaged 12.6 points and 9.6 rebounds over his previous five games, finished with nine points and nine rebounds.
The Bobcats (6-6) are 0-6 on the road, and have lost five of their last six games. Tre Johnson scored 10 of his 12 points in the first half for Montana State, and Erik Rush added 13 points and eight rebounds.
UCLA, which handed then-No. 16 Brigham Young its first loss Saturday, limited Montana State to 23-of-65 (35.4 percent) shooting from the field. The Bruins shot 26-of-54 (48.1 percent).
