Mookie Betts homered in each of his first three at-bats and had four hits and five RBIs total as the Boston Red Sox once again romped past the visiting New York Yankees, winning 10-5 on Friday.

Betts led off the bottom of the first with a homer before hitting another solo shot in the third and a two-run moonshot in the fourth.

The right fielder doubled home a run in the sixth and grounded out in the eighth, settling for his fifth career three-homer game. Four of those have come from the leadoff spot in the order, a major league record.

J.D. Martinez also went deep and drove in three runs, and Rafael Devers had three hits as the Red Sox posted at least eight runs against the Yankees for the fifth straight meeting.

All of Betts' blasts came off Yankees starter James Paxton, who, like Masahiro Tanaka in Boston's 19-3 win on Thursday, had a rough night from the start.

Following Betts' first homer, Martinez hit a two-run shot later in the first for a 3-0 Boston lead. The Red Sox made it 5-0 in the third, with Betts once again leading off with a homer and Martinez tripling home a run. Betts' fourth-inning dinger made it 7-0.

New York got a run back in the sixth, and after Boston scored two in the bottom of the frame, made it 9-3 with another two runs in the seventh. The Red Sox reached double digits on a Sam Travis RBI double in the seventh, and the Yankees completed the scoring with two more runs in the ninth.

Paxton (5-6) gave up seven runs on nine hits in four innings, though he struck out nine and walked none. Yankees starters have failed to pitch past the fourth inning in six straight games.

Andrew Cashner (10-5) got the win, his first in three starts since being traded to Boston. He allowed three runs on 10 hits and a walk in 6 2/3 innings, fanning six.

Betts' performance marked the fourth straight day in the major leagues with a three-homer game, extending a record. He followed the New York Mets' Robinson Cano (Tuesday), St. Louis Cardinals' Paul DeJong (Wednesday) and Minnesota Twins' Nelson Cruz (Thursday).
