A.J. Pollock also collected three RBIs while Adam Eaton had three hits and scored three runs for the Diamondbacks, who remained one-half game behind the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West. Paul Goldschmidt picked up his National League-leading 80th RBI as Arizona exploded for 14 hits.
Corbin (12-1) allowed one run and four hits while striking out six in six innings to win his third straight start.
Chicago took the lead on Anthony Rizzo’s RBI single in the third, but Martin Prado tied it when he drilled Wood’s 0-2 fastball deep into the left-field stands in the fifth. Wood (6-7) was charged with four runs on eight hits in 5 2/3 innings.
Pollock doubled in the go-ahead run in the sixth and scored on Chavez’s triple off the wall in center. Wil Nieves’ RBI single plated Chavez and ended Wood’s night. Chavez drove in two more during a three-run seventh and Pollock had the big hit with a two-run triple as the Diamondbacks scored three more times in the eighth.
