Dodgers 6, Padres 1: Matt Kemp drove in four runs with two home runs and Ted Lilly threw seven strong innings as the Dodgers improved to a major-league best 8-1.
Kemp and Andre Ethier hit back-to-back home runs in the first inning off Joe Wieland (0-1), who gave up six runs over four innings in his major league debut.
Lilly (1-0) allowed one unearned run on two hits and one walk over seven innings in his first start after beginning the season on the disabled list with a stiff neck.
Leading 4-1 after the first inning, Kemp added to the Dodgers lead with a two-run blast to right field in the second.
Kemp, who went 3-for-4 with four RBIs, is 11-for-23 with five home runs and 14 RBIs against the Padres this season.
The Dodgers moved to 8-1 for the first time since 1981, when they started 9-1 and won the World Series.
Padres catcher Nick Hundley went 0-for-2 and is hitless in his first 21 at-bats. The Padres managed only two hits, and they’ve scored 30 runs in their first nine games.
