Brewers 5, Twins 3: Martin Maldonado hit a two-run homer in the top of the ninth and Ryan Braun added a three-run blast as visiting Milwaukee snapped a three-game slide.

With two outs and Corey Hart on second base, Maldonado got a 2-2 fastball from Minnesota closer Matt Capps (1-4) and turned it around, sending a line drive over the wall in left-center to snap a 3-3 deadlock.

Kameron Loe (3-2) picked up the win in relief and John Axford, who had blown save opportunities in each of the previous two games, worked a 1-2-3 ninth for his 11th save.

Francisco Liriano started for the Twins and carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning but walked a pair in front of Braun with one out. The reigning National League MVP made the first Brewers hit of the night count, taking a low 0-2 slider and sending out to straightaway center field for his 17th home run and a 3-2 Milwaukee lead.

Liriano would be lifted after six innings, charged with three runs and one hit while walking four and striking out six.

The Twins had taken a 2-0 edge in the fifth on a solo homer by Trevor Plouffe and an RBI single from Alexi Casilla. They tied it up in the bottom of the sixth, when Plouffe again took Yovani Gallardo deep for his 14th blast.

Gallardo allowed three runs and eight hits in six innings, walking two and striking out seven.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Brewers announced on Friday that right-handed pitching prospect Cody Scarpetta underwent Tommy John surgery last month and will be out the rest of the season … Twins 1B Justin Morneau (sore forearm) sat out Friday and is day-to-day … Minnesota will recall RH Liam Hendriks from Triple-A Rochester to make the start on Saturday … Plouffe, who has never hit more than 15 home runs in any of his previous eight professional seasons, has homered in four straight games and has gone deep 13 times in his last 22 contests.
