Freddy Garcia (5-5) snapped a three-game losing skid after laboring through five innings. The former Mariners hurler permitted two runs on five hits, but issued four walks to drive up his pitch count.
After Jeter gave New York a 4-2 lead with a two-out RBI single in the fourth inning, Ibanez blasted an offering from Hisashi Iwakuma (2-3) into the seats in deep right-center field in the fifth.
Ibanez then doubled the advantage in the sixth inning after he lifted a liner just over the glove of leaping shortstop Munenori Kawasaki for a two-out, two-run single.
Former Yankees farmhand Jesus Montero had an RBI single in the first inning for the Mariners.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Former Mariner Ichiro Suzuki extended his hitting streak to 12 games after his pop up was lost in the sun by CF Michael Saunders in the seventh inning.
