Royals 6, Yankees 0: Mike Moustakas and Jeff Francouer belted two-run home runs to back 6 2/3 scoreless innings from Felipe Paulino as visiting Kansas City handed New York its third straight loss.

Paulino (2-1) held the skidding Yankees without a run for the second time in 17 days, allowed six hits while striking out eight and walking two. He blanked New York on four hits over six innings on May 5.

The Yankees have scored a total of 15 runs in losing for the sixth time in seven games. They continued to flail away with runners in scoring position, going 0-for-13 Monday to extend a woeful stretch to 6-for-72.

Moustakas staked Paulino to a 2-0 lead with a two-out homer in the first inning off Hiroki Kuroda, his third blast in the last seven games. Eric Hosmer's RBI double in the third made it 3-0.

Kuroda (3-6) lasted 5 1/3 innings, allowing three runs on seven hits. He struck out four and walked three in losing his second straight start.

The Yankees had a glittering opportunity in the bottom of the third, loading the bases with no outs and the heart of the order coming up, but Paulino fanned Robinson Cano and Alex Rodriguez before retiring Raul Ibanez on a long fly ball to left-center.

Francouer extended the lead with another two-out homer in the seventh, greeting reliever Freddy Garcia with a deep shot to left-center for his second of the year.
