Carlos Lee drove in four runs as Houston opened its season-ending homestand Thursday with a 9-6 victory over Colorado. The setback was the eighth in a row for the Rockies.
The Astros responded after falling behind in the top of the third inning, loading the bases after Alex White (2-3) hit back-to-back batters with one out. Lee followed by driving a 2-0 pitch into center field for a three-run double to give Houston a 4-2 advantage.
Lee added a sacrifice fly in the fifth, and pinch hitter Matt Downs sealed the outcome with a bases-loaded double of his own in the seventh.
Colorado's Wilin Rosario hit a three-run homer in the eighth to cut the gap to 8-6, but the Astros answered with a run in the bottom of the inning. Mark Melancon retired the Rockies in order in the top of the ninth to end it.
Houston starter Henry Sosa (3-5) snapped a personal three-game losing streak, scattering nine hits over a career-high 6 1/3 innings. Sosa struck out four and walked one, letting one of the three Colorado runs score on a wild pitch in the third inning.
White lasted just 4 2/3 innings, striking out six without a walk but allowing five runs on six hits. Kevin Kouzmanoff drove in a pair of runs for the Rockies, one on a seventh-inning homer.
