Isaiah Wong scored a season-high 27 points and grabbed seven rebounds as Miami defeated Boston College 81-70 on Wednesday in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
Jim Larranaga won his 221st game with Miami, passing Bruce Hale for most wins by a Hurricanes coach.
The Hurricanes (21-9, 13-5 Atlantic Coast Conference) clinched a top-four spot in the league, which means a double bye in next week's ACC tournament.
Miami, which trailed only once at 2-0, had a 21-12 edge on points off turnovers. The visitors shot 56.4 percent from the floor, including 10-for-21 (47.6 percent) on 3-point attempts.
The Hurricanes also got 18 points from Jordan Miller, 16 from Sam Waardenburg, 10 from Kameron McGusty and eight points and a game-high five assists from Charlie Moore.
Miami earned its fifth win in seven games. The Hurricanes posted their first victory at Boston College since Jan. 20, 2016, having lost three straight games at the Eagles' arena.
Boston College (11-18, 6-13), which has lost two in a row, was led by Makai Ashton-Langford, who scored 19 of his 21 points in the second half.
The Eagles also got 13 points and seven rebounds from James Karnik, 11 points from Brevin Galloway and 10 points from Quinten Post.
Miami led 40-25 at halftime, thanks in part to Wong's 17 points on just nine shots. The Hurricanes shot 55.6 percent from the floor in the opening 20 minutes, including 5-for-11 from 3-point range. Miami also had a 17-4 edge on points off turnovers.
Boston College shot just 38.5 percent from the floor in the first half, including 1-for-9 on 3-point tries. The Eagles also missed half of their eight first-half free throws.
In the second half, Boston College used an 8-0 run to cut its deficit to 60-49 on Gianni Thompson's put-back dunk with 8:38 left.
Wong hit a step-back jumper to stop that run, and Boston College never got closer than 10 points in the second half.
For the game, the Eagles shot 50 percent from the floor, including 35 percent from beyond the arc (6-for-17). However, the hosts sank just 8 of 14 free throws.
