Kameron McGusty scored a career-high 29 points, leading the Miami Hurricanes to a 76-59 win over the Lipscomb Bisons on Wednesday night in Coral Gables, Fla.
Isaiah Wong added 20 points as Miami (7-3) won its third straight game.
McGusty made 11 of 18 shots, including 4 of 7 from 3-point range. Wong made 9 of 13 shots, including 8 of 9 inside the arc.
Miami shot 51.6 percent from the floor and held the Bisons to 37.1 percent shooting.
Lipscomb (5-5) lost its third straight contest. Reserve Kaleb Coleman led the Bisons with 12 points, including 10 in the first half.
Jacob Ognacevic, who entered the game as Lipscomb's leading scorer (18.6 points per game) on 60.9 percent shooting, had a scoreless first half. He finished with eight points on 3-for-11 shooting.
Lipscomb was without two of its top four scorers due to injuries: Ahsan Asadullah (17.0) and Tommy Murr (8.6).
Early on, it was all Miami. Lipscomb fell behind 5-0 as the Bisons had five straight empty possessions -- four missed shots and one turnover.
But the Bisons battled back with the help of Coleman, who made his first four shots, including two 3-pointers. His 3-pointer with 10:07 left in the first half gave Lipscomb its first lead of the game, 16-15.
Miami went on a 14-0 run that included three straight spectacular plays: a 30-foot lob pass by McGusty that led to a Wong dunk; a midcourt steal and lefty dunk by Jordan Miller; and a McGusty 3-pointer. All of that happened in 44 seconds.
At halftime, Miami led 35-26 despite shooting just one free throw and making only 2 of 9 on 3-pointers.
But Miami shot 14 of 21 from inside the 3-point line, and the Canes were plus-three on turnovers. In addition, Miami held Ognacevic scoreless on four shots.
McGusty led all first-half scorers with 12 points.
Ognacevic finally picked up his first points on Lipscomb's initial second-half possession, scoring on a post-up off a lob.
But McGusty remained hot, and Wong scored eight straight Miami points on 4-for-4 shooting on mid-range jumpers.
Miami stretched its lead to as much as 19 points, and the Hurricanes cruised from there.
The Hurricanes are 2-1 against Power Five programs and 5-2 against the rest.
