Mike Bothwell scored 30 points Friday night as visiting Furman earned a milestone win by upsetting host Louisville 80-72 in overtime.

Garrett Hien scored 18 points for Furman, including a three-point play that tied the game at 67-67 and forced overtime as well as the layup to open the extra session that gave the Paladins the lead for good.

Alex Hunter added 17 points as Furman (2-0) beat Louisville (1-1) for the first time in five tries.

The result was the first November loss at the KFC Yum! Center for Louisville, which was 46-0 all-time in November dating back to the opening of the building in 2010.

Noah Locke scored 20 points for Louisville while Jae'Lyn Withers (14 points) and Jarrod West (10 points) also got into double digits.

Louisville, which trailed by as many as 11 in the first half, appeared to be in good position when West hit a layup with 2:43 left to go ahead 67-62. But Furman ended the game on an 18-5 run, a span in which the Cardinals were 2-for-13 from the field.

Bothwell began the surge with a pair of free throws before Hien's 3-point play. The teams combined to miss their final three shots, including a 3-pointer by Bothwell with 1.2 seconds remaining.

Furman scored the first seven points of overtime and was never seriously threatened thereafter. Bothwell hit a free throw to put the Paladins up 70-67 and Hunter hit a reverse layup before West missed a 3-pointer for Louisville. Bothwell followed with two more free throws.

Louisville got within four points on Locke's 3-pointer with 54 seconds left, but Furman hit its final four free throws and the Cardinals missed their last four 3-point attempts.

Furman outrebounded Louisville 43-41 and finished 42.9 percent from 3-point range, while Louisville only connected on 24.1 percent of threes.
