Johni Broome scored 27 points and Skyelar Potter added 22 as Morehead State advanced to the NCAA Tournament with an 86-71 victory Saturday over Belmont in the Ohio Valley Conference tournament final at Evansville, Ind.
Broome added 12 rebounds, including seven on the offensive end, and shot 12 of 19 from the field, while Potter had 13 rebounds. DeVon Cooper added 14 points for the Eagles (23-7), who earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2010-11 when they advanced to the third round as a No. 13 seed.
Nick Muszynski scored 23 points for Belmont (26-4), which was outrebounded 38-28. Luke Smith had 15 points for the Bruins, who got just two points from their bench, while losing to Morehead State for the second time in their last four games.
