No. 19 Iowa State 85, No. 17 Texas 76: Melvin Ejim had 25 points and eight rebounds as the host Cyclones upended the Longhorns in Big 12 play.

DeAndre Kane contributed 22 points, seven rebounds and five assists as Iowa State (20-5, 8-5 Big 12) improved to 13-1 at home. Georges Niang scored 20 points as the Cyclones reached the 20-win mark for the third straight season.

Isaiah Taylor had 26 points, eight assists and seven rebounds for Texas (20-6, 9-4), which lost for just the second time in 11 games. Javan Felix scored 16 points but was just 6-of-22 shooting and Jonathan Holmes added 14 points for the Longhorns, who shot just 32.9 percent from the field.

Iowa State had a four-point lead with over seven minutes remaining before Kane scored seven points in a 14-4 burst to increase the margin to 81-67 with 2:54 left. Texas was unable to make a late charge and only got into single digits on Taylor’s basket with 6.4 seconds to play.

Ejim had 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting in the first half as Iowa State took a 36-27 lead into the break. Niang’s 3-pointer boosted the lead to 10 early in the second half before the Longhorns rallied to tie the score at 48 on Taylor’s layup with just under 14 minutes remaining.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Texas was 23-of-25 from the free-throw line with Taylor hitting all 10 of his attempts. … The Cyclones are the lone Division I team to score at least 70 points in every game this season. … The Longhorns collected 20 offensive bounds while recording a 45-35 edge on the boards.
