No. 12 Saint Louis 64, Virginia Commonwealth 62: Dwayne Evans had 21 points and 10 rebounds as the host Billikens set a school record with their 17th consecutive victory by knocking off the Rams in Atlantic 10 play.

Jordair Jett contributed 14 points, six rebounds and five assists and Rob Loe also scored 14 for Saint Louis (23-2, 10-0). Mike McCall Jr. added 12 points and made the go-ahead shot with 1:49 remaining as the Billikens won for the 45th time in their last 49 home games.

Treveon Graham had 16 points and eight rebounds for Virginia Commonwealth (20-6, 8-3). Juvonte Reddic had 13 points and nine rebounds and Briante Weber added 12 points, nine rebounds and five assists for the Rams, who lost for just the second time in nine games.

VCU recovered from a 12-point second-half deficit and still trailed by nine with 5:01 to play before scoring nine straight to tie the game on Graham’s three-point play with 2:17 to play. McCall answered with a basket, Jett followed with a layup and Loe drained a 3-pointer with 36 seconds left to give the Billikens a 60-53 lead.

Saint Louis led 30-27 at the half and used a 9-0 run early in the second half to take a 40-33 lead. Two free throws by Evans gave the Billikens a 12-point lead with 10:26 to play.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Weber had three steals to raise his nation-leading total to 97. … Evans has six double-doubles this season and 24 in his career. … The Rams forced 17 turnovers but were just 2-of-16 from 3-point range.
