Northwestern 65, No. 13 Wisconsin 56: Drew Crawford scored 20 of his season-high 30 points in the second half as the visiting Wildcats stunned the Badgers.
Tre Demps added 10 points and five assists off the bench for Northwestern (11-11, 4-5 Big Ten). JerShon Cobb finished with 10 points and six rebounds for the Wildcats, who held Wisconsin to 26.3 percent shooting from the floor.
Ben Brust scored a season-high 21 for Wisconsin (17-4, 4-4), which lost for the fourth time in the last five games after starting the season with a program record 16 straight victories. Sam Dekker added 11 points and seven rebounds and Frank Kaminsky finished with eight points and 10 rebounds for the Badgers.
The Wildcats went scoreless the first four minutes but began clamping down on the defensive end of the floor. They took the lead three times in the opening 20 minutes before Wisconsin went into the half with a 23-22 advantage.
Northwestern fell behind by six early in the second half then caught fire, catching the Badgers at 34 on Crawford’s 3-pointer and holding them without a field goal for more than 12 minutes. In the meantime, Crawford continued hitting shots, extending the lead to 15 on a layup with 3:41 left.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Wisconsin defeated the host Wildcats 76-49 in a conference opener four weeks ago … The Badgers had won 14 straight home games against Northwestern. … Brust went 4-for-4 from the free throw line to extend his string of makes to 18 and the senior guard matched his career high with 10 3-point attempts, making three.
