Boise State 83, No. 11 Creighton 70: Sophomore guard Derrick Marks scored a career-high 35 points as the Broncos handed the host Bluejays their first loss of the season in the Mountain West-Missouri Valley Conference Challenge matchup.
Boise State (5-1) was red-hot from 3-point range in the first half, connecting on nine of 13 shots from deep. The Broncos shot 60.4 percent from the field and outrebounded Creighton 31-18.
Junior guard Jeff Elorriaga shot 4-of-7 from deep, scoring 12 points while Anthony Dmric added 17 for Boise State.
Creighton (6-1) trailed by as many as 11 in the first half but managed to cut the deficit to six by halftime. The Bluejays pulled to within five on a three-point play by forward Doug McDermott with just under three minutes to play, but that was as close as they would come.
McDermott paced Creighton with 21 points and a team-high four boards. Guard Grant Gibbs chipped in 17 points and five assists.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The Broncos won their first game over a ranked opponent since 2009. … Creighton was the highest-ranked team Boise State had faced on the road in over a decade. … Marks' previous career high was 24 earlier this season against Michigan State.
