Tommy Edman and Paul DeJong homered Tuesday and the visiting St. Louis Cardinals held the Pittsburgh Pirates to one hit in a 4-1 win.
Harrison Bader added an RBI single for the Cardinals, who have won three of four.
St. Louis left-hander J.A. Happ (6-6), making his second start since being acquired in a trade, gave up a solo homer for the only run and hit he yielded in six innings. He struck out five and walked two.
Cardinals relievers Ryan Helsley, Genesis Cabrera and Alex Reyes combined for three hitless innings, with Reyes pitching the ninth to log his 26th save.
Hoy Park homered leading off the fourth inning for the lone hit by the Pirates, who have lost six straight. They are 0-4 this year against the Cardinals at PNC Park, and they have lost eight in a row against St. Louis at home dating to last season.
Pittsburgh left-hander Steven Brault (0-1), in his second start after missing most of the season because of an arm injury, pitched five innings. He gave up two runs and five hits with six strikeouts and no walks.
St. Louis played without left fielder Tyler O'Neill, who was a late scratch because of side effects from his second COVID-19 vaccine.
On the fourth pitch of the game, Edman launched his seventh homer, to left, to give St. Louis a 1-0 lead.
In the second, it was DeJong's turn, this time with one out. His homer to right was his 15th and boosted the advantage to 2-0.
Pittsburgh cut the deficit to 2-1 when Park hit his first major league homer, to right, in the fourth.
Against reliever Kyle Keller in the sixth, the Cardinals' Dylan Carlson opened with a single to right and went to second on a wild pitch. After Paul Goldschmidt flied out, Nolen Arenado walked.
Carlson scored when Molina rocketed a grounder that might have been a double play but went off shortstop Kevin Newman's glove for an error. Bader followed with a flare to shallow center that dropped in for a base hit, with Arenado scoring to make it 4-1.
