Twins 5, Padres 3: Josmil Pinto hit a tiebreaking sacrifice fly and Kurt Suzuki added an odd inside-the-park homer the following inning as visiting Minnesota defeated San Diego for the seventh straight time.

Kevin Correia (2-5) gave up three runs and four hits in six innings to win for the first time since May 3. Four relievers limited the Padres to one hit over the final three innings with Glen Perkins getting the final three outs for his American League-leading 13th save.

Pinto’s run-scoring fly in the seventh gave the Twins a 4-3 lead and Suzuki hit a deep fly in the eighth that prompted confusion on whether or not the ball cleared the fence. Padres left fielder Seth Smith missed on a leaping attempt and the ball rolled along the fence and dropped back into the field of play and Suzuki hustled around the bases as Smith didn’t retrieve the ball and center fielder Will Venable was slow to scurry after it.

Chris Parmelee hit a leadoff homer to center field in the second off Ian Kennedy (2-6) to put Minnesota ahead and Trevor Plouffe’s RBI single in the third made it 2-0. The Padres were hitless through the first four innings against Correia before breaking through for three runs in the fifth on Jedd Gyorko’s single, Yasmani Grandal’s sacrifice fly and Kennedy’s run-scoring single.

Minnesota tied the score in the sixth when Plouffe hit a leadoff double and eventually scored on Kennedy’s two-out wild pitch. Eduardo Escobar walked in the seventh, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt and to third on another Kennedy wild pitch before scoring on Pinto’s fly to medium right.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Kennedy allowed four runs and six hits in 6 2/3 innings while losing his third consecutive decision. … Twins 1B Joe Mauer went 1-for-4 to improve to 4-for-33 in his career against San Diego. … Padres OF Carlos Quentin (groin) sat out the contest.
