Twins 4, Rangers 2: Kevin Correia pitched seven innings of one-run ball as visiting Minnesota won the rubber match of the three-game series.
Alex Presley went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in his Twins debut while Josmil Pinto and Doug Bernier each delivered a run-scoring double in a three-run fifth inning as Minnesota won a series at Texas for the first time since 2009.
Correia (9-10) defeated the Rangers for the second time this season, scattering five hits and inducing 14 ground-ball outs to help the Twins win for only the second time in eight games. Glen Perkins worked a perfect ninth for his 32nd save in 35 chances.
Mitch Moreland homered off Correia in the third inning and pinch hitter A.J. Pierzynski added a solo shot off reliever Jared Burton in the eighth for Texas. The first-place Rangers, who fell to 8-4 in their last 12, had their lead over Oakland in the American League West whittled to one game heading into Monday's three-game series showdown.
Minnesota used a three-run fifth to chase Travis Blackley (2-2), who was charged with three runs on eight hits in 4 1/3 innings. Making his major-league debut, Pinto picked up his first hit and first RBI with a double and scored on a ground-rule double by Bernier, who eventually came home on Presley's single for a 3-1 edge.
