Mariners 7, Astros 1: Dustin Ackley went 4-for-5 and tied a career best with four RBIs and Taijuan Walker won his major-league debut as visiting Seattle defeated Houston for the second straight night.
Abraham Almonte drove in two runs in his first major-league game and Kyle Seager also had an RBI for the Mariners. The Astros lost their fourth straight game and 90th of the campaign.
Walker (1-0) allowed one unearned run and two hits in five innings before exiting after 70 pitches. Three relievers combined on four innings of two-hit relief as Seattle defeated Houston for the seventh time in the last eight meetings.
Ackley singled in the tying run in the fourth, ripped a two-run single to center in the fifth to make it 5-1 and added a run-scoring single in the ninth. Almonte plated the go-ahead run in the fourth with an infield out and singled in a run in the eighth for his first big-league hit.
Astros starter Brad Peacock (3-5) allowed five runs and seven hits in 4 2/3 innings.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Ackley is 15-for-29 with five multihit outings over his last eight games. … Houston C Jason Castro went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts to halt an eight-game hitting streak. … Seattle traded OF Michael Morse to Baltimore for minor-league OF Xavier Avery and recalled Almonte from Triple-A Tacoma. Almonte went 1-for-5.
