Rays 12, Astros 0: Ryan Roberts knocked in three runs with a pair of homers and Matt Moore pitched seven strong innings as visiting Tampa Bay rolled to its third straight victory.
Sean Rodriguez collected a career-high four hits and three RBIs and Sam Fuld added three singles and two RBIs for Tampa Bay, which matched its season-best run total. Moore (11-3) allowed only two hits, walked three and struck out nine to win his third straight start.
Houston starter Dallas Keuchel (4-5) threw 108 pitches in 4 2/3 innings, yielding five runs on eight hits and five walks. The Astros surrendered 17 hits in all and managed only two, losing for the sixth time in seven games.
Wil Myers walked and Ben Zobrist doubled to open the third inning and James Loney lifted a sacrifice fly for his 500th career RBI. Roberts, who also had a single, hammered the next pitch from Keuchel into the left-field seats to give the Rays a 3-0 lead.
Moore allowed the first two runners to reach in the fourth inning before J.D. Martinez struck out and Matt Dominguez grounded into a double play. Fuld and Jose Lobaton (three hits) delivered run-scoring singles with two outs in the fifth to extend the lead to 5-0 and the Rays put it away with four in the seventh, ignited by Fuld’s RBI single.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Tampa Bay 3B Evan Longoria missed his third straight game while recovering from plantar fasciitis in his right foot. … Former Rays 1B Carlos Pena missed his second straight game for the Astros due to a death in the family. … Keuchel was only the sixth left-handed starter the Rays have faced in the last 34 games. Tampa Bay is 14-10 against left-handed starters in 2013.
