Reds 7, Brewers 3: Joey Votto and Shin-Soo Choo each belted two-run homers and had three RBIs as visiting Cincinnati leveled the series at a game apiece.

Votto and Choo also delivered sacrifice flies and Todd Frazier added an RBI single to back seven solid innings from Homer Bailey as the Reds extended their lead over Washington for the second National League wild card to 5 1/2 games. Cincinnati also closed within 2 1/2 games of NL Central co-leaders St. Louis and Pittsburgh.

Bailey (11-10) won his sixth consecutive decision, overcoming one bad inning as he permitted three runs on five hits. Aroldis Chapman struck out four, including Jonathan Lucroy with the bases loaded in the eighth, en route to his 36th save.

Brewers starter Johnny Hellweg (1-4) lasted five innings, giving up four runs on eight hits while hitting three batters. Khris Davis and Carlos Gomez had RBI hits during a three-run fourth for Milwaukee, which won five of its seven previous meetings with Cincinnati.

Votto's sacrifice fly and Frazier's run-scoring single made it 2-0 in the first before the Reds doubled the lead in the second on Choo's 21st homer. After the Brewers cut the deficit to one run, Votto hit a towering two-run blast - his 23rd - off reliever Michael Blazek in the sixth that hit the top of the foul pole in right field.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Davis, who returned to the lineup after sitting out the previous seven games with a wrist injury, collected his 10th RBI in eight games against the Reds this season. ... Votto's massive homer was estimated at 470 feet, the fourth-longest blast in the history of Miller Park. ... Brewers 3B Aramis Ramirez was not in the starting lineup due to a left wrist contusion suffered when he was hit by a pitch Friday. Jeff Bianchi started in his place.
