Reds 5, Cubs 4 (13): Cesar Izturis drove in the winning run to cap a three-run rally in the 13th inning as host Cincinnati won for the seventh time in eight games on its homestand.

Jay Bruce homered and added a two-run double to tie it at 4 in the 13th for the Reds, who have won five straight and 10 of 11 against the Cubs dating to last season. Chicago took the lead on Luis Valbuena's two-run homer in the top of the 13th, but Michael Bowden (0-1) couldn't hold the lead as the Cubs lost for the seventh time in eight games.

David DeJesus led off the game with a homer down the right-field line - his 13th career leadoff home run - and the Cubs made it 2-0 on Starlin Castro's RBI single in the third. Reds starter Mike Leake settled in after that and lasted seven innings, giving up two runs on eight hits.

Cubs starter Travis Wood pitched well against his former team, holding the Reds to two runs on four hits over 6 1/3 innings. The second run scored after he exited, as pinch hitter Jack Hannahan laced an RBI triple off the right-field wall against reliever James Russell to tie it at 2 in the seventh.

Bruce led off the seventh with his first homer of the year, a shot to right-center to break up the shutout. Chris Heisey chased Wood with a one-out single, moved to second on Shawn Camp's balk and scored when Hannahan laced a 1-1 slider off the right-field fence.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Reds pitchers racked up 16 strikeouts and have struck out 10 or more batters in five consecutive games for the first time since 1900, according to Elias Sports Bureau. … Castro extended his hitting streak to 14 games, the longest in the majors. … Choo has reached base in all 19 games he has played this season and set a franchise record when he was hit by a pitch for the 10th time this month.
