Rays 3, White Sox 0: Matt Moore pitched 6 1/3 shutout innings to win his fourth straight start and Ben Zobrist had a pair of hits as host Tampa Bay won for the seventh time in eight contests.
Luke Scott had an RBI double and Sam Fuld added a run-scoring single for the Rays, who moved eight games over .500 (48-40) for the first time this season. Moore (12-3) allowed five hits, two walks and struck out six while Fernando Rodney pitched a perfect ninth inning for his 19th save as Tampa Bay earned its 10th shutout.
Chicago starter Chris Sale (5-8) gave up three runs (two earned) on six hits and struck out nine in seven innings, losing his sixth straight decision. Gordon Beckham and Alexei Ramirez had two hits apiece for the White Sox, who are 2-8 in their last 10 contests.
Scott’s RBI double into the right-field corner and Desmond Jennings’ run-scoring groundout helped the Rays take a 2-0 lead in the second. Chicago put runners on second and third with none out in the next inning before Alex Rios lined to Evan Longoria, who dove to double off Alejandro De Aza at the third base bag, and Adam Dunn flied out to end the threat.
Wil Myers singled and, while running on the pitch, moved all the way to third on Jose Lobaton's groundout before Fuld’s two-out RBI single made it 3-0 in the sixth. Jake McGee threw one pitch in the seventh in relief of Moore, getting Tyler Flowers to ground into a double play to end the inning, and Joel Peralta pitched a scoreless eighth for the Rays.
