Mets 9, Diamondbacks 1: Josh Satin delivered a go-ahead RBI double to ignite a seven-run seventh and Jeremy Hefner tossed seven solid innings as host New York handed Arizona its fifth straight loss and eighth in nine outings.
Anthony Recker belted a two-out solo homer in the fifth inning and added an RBI single in the seventh. Omar Quintanilla drove in a career-high three runs for the Mets, who have won the first two contests of the four-game series and 11 of their last 17 overall.
After Martin Prado's seventh homer of the season forged a 1-1 tie in the top of the seventh, David Wright led off the bottom half with a single. Marlon Byrd's 14th double of the season off Patrick Corbin (9-1) set the stage for Satin, who extended his career-high hitting streak to eight games by lofting a ball to center field that deflected off the glove of A.J. Pollock.
A 1-hour, 41-minute rain delay did nothing to slow the Mets as Recker ripped a single into left field to plate Byrd. Quintanilla and Eric Young Jr. each produced a two-run hit before Juan Lagares' RBI single capped the uprising.
Hefner (3-6) benefited from the offensive outburst, recording his first win in four decisions at home. He allowed one run on four hits.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Corbin suffered the loss after being charged with five runs on six hits in as many innings. ... Recker opened the scoring by depositing a 2-1 changeup over the wall in left-center field for his third homer of the season. Prado answered two innings later by launching a high fastball from Hefner over the fence in left-center. ... Arizona LF Jason Kubel made the start in place of RF Gerardo Parra, who suffered injuries to his face and shoulder while chasing down a fly ball in the eighth inning on Monday. Cody Ross shifted over to RF.
