Brewers 5, Dodgers 4: George Kottaras hit a two-run double to the wall in right-center and Mat Gamel beat the throw to the plate as host Milwaukee snapped a four-game skid.

The Brewers handed the Dodgers their first loss in seven games. Los Angeles’ 9-2 start to the season matches the 1981 Dodgers, who went on to win the World Series.

Corey Hart singled to lead off the bottom of the ninth and was replaced by pinch runner Carlos Gomez, who promptly stole second. Gamel drew a walk and beat the tag at home to open a nine-game home stand with a victory.

Yovani Gallardo went seven innings, allowing two runs on seven hits and fanning seven batters. Reliever Jose Veras (1-0) picked up the win.

Los Angeles grabbed a 4-3 lead in the eighth when Andre Ethier banged the first pitch from reliever Francisco Rodriguez over the left-center wall for a two-run home run.

After falling behind 2-0 in the second inning, Los Angeles battled back to tie it 2-2 in the seventh when Ethier scored on James Loney’s double to deep right field.

Chad Billingsley pitched five innings, giving up two runs on five hits while striking out two batters. Closer Javy Guerra (1-1) was tagged with the blown save.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Milwaukee hasn't lost a game when leading after seven innings since July 4, 2011. … Matt Kemp went 1 for 4 with two strikeouts.
