Tigers 8, Cubs 4: Brennan Boesch went 4-for-5 with a home run, and Jhonny Peralta had three hits and two RBIs to help visiting Detroit rally past Chicago and even their interleague series at a game apiece.
Peralta's two-run double was the key blow in a four-run sixth inning for the Tigers, who rallied from a 4-1 deficit. Boesch added his seventh home run, a solo blast down the right-field line, an inning later.
The big sixth inning made a winner of Rick Porcello (4-4), who had been winless in six starts dating back to May 6. Porcello allowed four runs on nine hits in five innings.
Cubs starter Matt Garza (2-5) remained winless in seven starts since April 29 after allowing five runs - three earned - on seven hits in six innings. Chicago has lost each of Garza's last seven outings.
Cubs outfielder Alfonso Soriano went 2-for-4 with an RBI double to extend his hitting streak to nine games. He has hit safely in 11 of 12 games this month.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The Tigers' eight runs were their most since a 10-6 win at Minnesota on May 25. … Garza dropped to 1-6 lifetime against the Tigers. … Boesch matched a career high with his fourth four-hit game.
