Royals 4, Indians 2: The Royals broke a tie with a three-run fifth and won their second straight following a 12-game skid.
Kansas City won consecutive games in Cleveland for the first time since May 19-20, 2010.
It was 1-1 in the fifth when Jeff Francoeur, Mike Moustakas and Brayan Pena delivered consecutive RBI singles.
Luis Mendoza (1-2), who entered with an 8.02 ERA in eight career road starts, allowed two runs over five innings to pick up the win. Tim Collins preserved the lead in the sixth. Entering with the bases loaded and no outs, he limited Cleveland to one run on Travis Hafner’s sacrifice fly. Jonathan Broxton worked around a hit and a walk in the ninth to earn his second save.
Cleveland starter Josh Tomlin (1-2) lost for the first time in four home starts against the Royals, allowing four runs and eight hits over 4 2/3 innings.
Royals left fielder Alex Gordon went 2-for-4 with a double and a walk, giving him five hits the last two days.
