Braves 6, Mets 2: David Ross belted a three-run homer and Kris Medlen combined with three relievers on a five-hitter as playoff-bound Atlanta took the rubber match of the three-game series against visiting New York.
Chipper Jones went 1-for-2 with two walks and a run scored in his final regular-season home game for the Braves, who have won 12 of their last 15 contests. Jones is retiring at the end of the campaign after a 19-year career.
Medlen (10-1) allowed an unearned run and three hits in six innings as Atlanta set a major-league record by winning each of the right-hander's last 23 starts. The Yankees and Whitey Ford previously shared the record with the Giants and Carl Hubbell.
Luis Avilan tossed two scoreless frames and Cory Gearrin recorded the first two outs in the ninth before Craig Kimbrel closed it out for his 42nd save.
Ross gave Medlen all the support he needed in the second inning with his ninth blast off Jenrry Mejia (1-2). Jason Heyward added an RBI double in the fifth, and Andrelton Simmons and Michael Bourn had run-scoring hits in the sixth.
